Jack Michael “Mike” Moore Jack Michael “Mike” Moore, 82, of Carbon Hill, Alabama, passed away on January 14, 2025, at Cordova Health and Rehabilitation after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 23, 1942, in Carbon Hill to Wilfred “Tootie” Moore and William “Bill” D. Moore.
Mike was a devoted husband to Patricia “Pat” Moore, his wife of 61 years. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Keetha Moore Kratzer; his son, David (Karen) Moore; and his grandchildren, Jordan (Joe) Kratzer, Peyton (Katie) Moore, and Holland (Tyler) Mann. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Kaylie. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, William Douglas “Doug” (Linda) Moore and Jesse “Skipper” (Judy) Moore.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Mike retired as a coal miner and later served with the Walker County Sheriff's Office. His dedication to his work was matched only by his passion for sports. A lifelong fan of the Carbon Hill Bulldogs and the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide, Mike’s enthusiasm for the game was infectious. In his earlier years, he gave back to his community by coaching little league baseball, leaving a lasting impact on many young athletes. In addition to this, Mike loved the game of golf and was self-taught, achieving 3 career holes in one.
Mike’s legacy is one of love for family, commitment to hard work, and an enduring passion for the things that brought him joy. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
Memorial service will be held at Wilson Funeral Home in Carbon Hill, AL on January 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM CT with visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, the Humane Society or your favorite charity.
