IN MEMORY OF
Derek Scott Tidwell
March 31, 2024
June 2, 1980
Derek Scott Tidwell, 43, passed away on March 31st, 2024 in Cordova, Alabama. He was born on June 2nd, 1980 in Jasper, Alabama to Arley Tidwell and Charlotte Akers-Tidwell. He was an avid outdoorsman and worked as a mechanic for most of his life. He was the epitome of a working class man and took pride in the work he did including time in the Gulf of Mexico working on oil rigs. He is survived by his parents, Arley and Charlotte, sons, Elijah Scott Tidwell and Jacob Leigh Tidwell, Brothers Warren Alan and Jared and a whole host of family and friends who appreciated his neverending wit and humor. His brothers appreciated the fact that he didn’t want to be bothered. That is an inside joke for them. He loved learning new things and devoured documentary television shows. His brothers wouldn’t admit it but he was likely the most intelligent of the bunch. He would find it funny that ended up in his obituary but he would have also said it is absolutely true. There’s a quote here he would have wanted but, in the interest of being polite, just know he came from a long line of people just like him. He leaves behind two sons who have all of his best qualities. His legacy will be who they are in the world. He will be missed more than a few simple words in an obituary could explain. Hug your folks and tell them you love them. You never know when you won’t be able to again. The memorial service will be held on a date in the future to be announced to friends and family through social media. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Jubilee House Community in Parrish, Alabama https://www.jubileehouse.co/
