Mr. George Dell Sims Jr. passed away Thursday June 29, 2023 at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama at t he age of 71. Dell was graduate of Carbon Hill High School. He loved his community, spending many years as a  volunteer for the Eldridge Fire Department and helping anyone who needed it. He retired from Chevron Mining after 31 dedicated years and was devoted to his family. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them every chance he got.

A visitation will be held Friday June 30, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Bob Wilson Memorial Chapel, Carbon Hill Alabama. A private Grave side service will be held at the Old Union Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his parents George Dell and Jane Sims.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Janice Sims; sons, Greg Sims (Julie), Blake Sims,( Brandi), Drew Sims, (Ashley); seven grandchildren, Anna-Grace Sims, Greyson Sims, Brooke Sims, Iveyblake Sims, Bethany Sims, Eli Sims, and Sawyer Sims; four sisters, Mary Jane Cagle, Susan Everett, Elizabeth Phillips, and Barbara Burke, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
